International Business Machines Corp. plans to include technology from MapInfo Corp. in its new Core Life Solution product.

IBM, Armonk, N.Y., will be putting the MapInfo technology in a prospecting tool that will help insurance agents locate target customers based on neighborhood demographics, lifestyles and consumption patterns.

The system also will help agents obtain driving directions to prospective customers’ locations and plan routes for sales calls, according to MapInfo, Troy, N.Y.

MapInfo, which bases its software on standards from ACORD, Pearl River, N.Y., announced the IBM deal today at the ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum in Las Vegas.

In other technology alliance news:

- Coalition America Inc., Atlanta, a company that sells medical claim submission, processing and repricing services, says it will be using claim editing technology from Bloodhound Inc., Research Triangle Park, N.C., to develop systems that will verify the accuracy of medical claims.

- BenSoft Inc., San Diego, a health account reimbursement software company, will be updating its software to support the MBI Benefits Card health account payment card system. Metavante, a unit of Marshall & Ilsley Corp., Milwaukee, runs the system, which gives consumers the ability to use debit cards to draw on assets in flexible spending accounts, health reimbursement arrangements and health savings accounts.

- FINEOS Corp., Boston, a developer of insurance administration software, has agreed to build The Medical Disability Advisor return-to-work disability duration guidelines from the Reed Group Ltd., Westminster, Colo., into its disability and workers’ compensation insurance claims processing systems.
