Centene Corp. says a Texas exclusive provider organization unit will be serving Texas children in foster care starting April 1, 2008.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission is setting a new STAR Health program to coordinate care for children in foster care.

The program has agreed to provide care for participants through a contract with Superior HealthPlan Network, a Centene EPO subsidiary, according to Centene, St. Louis.

Superior also administers health coverage for 333,900 members of the Texas Medicaid plan and the Texas Children’s Health Insurance Plan, Centene says.
