Gartmore Adds to U.S. Equities Team

PHILADELPHIA (HedgeWorld.com)–Gartmore Investment Management plc, London, has named Gil Knight as vice president and senior portfolio manager for its U.S. equities team.

Mr. Knight previously was managing director at MTB Investment Advisors Inc., where he was the portfolio manager for Gartmore Govett U.S. Opportunities Fund and its offshore equivalent, the Govett Securities & Investments Ltd. U.S. Growth Fund, according to a statement from Gartmore.

MTB formerly was Allied Investment Advisors, a subsidiary of Allfirst Bank, which was in turn owned by Allied Irish Bank plc. Allied managed the Govett funds but sold them to Gartmore in November as part of a deal that transferred most of the Govett Investments Ltd. business from Allied to Gartmore Previous HedgeWorld Story.

Mr. Gill will continue in his new position to manage the Gartmore Govett U.S. Opportunities Fund and the Govett Securities & Investments Ltd. U.S. Growth Fund, according to a Gartmore statement. He will be based in Gartmore’s Philadelphia office and will report to Young Chin, global chief investment officer for equities.

Gil is an exceptional fund manager and we are delighted that he is going to join us” Mr. Chin said in a statement. “Investors in Gil’s portfolios will benefit from substantial added research and analytical support that our U.S. equities investment platform provides.”
