More than half of information technology executives say they areincreasing risk management efforts related to employees' use ofmobile devices, according to a survey conducted by Computerworld.But only 46% of companies currently have a formal policy in placethat governs the use of such devices.

A third of the 334 executives surveyed say they're working withthird-party providers on managing the risks related to mobiledevices.

Hometown Bank in Roanoke, Va., for example, requires employeeswho use their own mobile devices for work purposes to adoptfeatures like encryption and locking mechanisms if they access sometypes of information. IPad users have to agree that the bank canremotely wipe data from the device if necessary.
