BMO Wealth Management has tapped Wallace Harris as leader of BMO Harris Financial Advisors in Chicago. The group has 243 employees and about $12.7 billion of client assets.

Harris joined BMO nearly a decade ago, when he became a regional president. The executive, who has more than 25 years of industry experience, now reports to Darrel Hackett, president of BMO Wealth Management (U.S.) and Alex Dousmanis-Curtis, group head of U.S. Retail and Business Banking for BMO Harris Bank.

“Wallace’s extensive leadership experience and commitment to meeting and exceeding client expectations strongly positions him for success in his new role,” said Hackett, in a statement. “We fully expect BHFA to continue to make great strides under Wallace’s leadership.”

According to BMO, its wealth managers work “collaboratively” with its retail banking staff and serve mass affluent clients via its integrated Premier Services Program. For this effort, Harris will work closely with COO William Crain and Jennifer Uhri, who has been overseeing field operation and customer experience for the business since 2015.

Most recently, Harris was in charge of Customer Experience Execution for BMO Harris Bank, where he led branch transformation, customer experience, sales effectiveness, strategy and growth efforts for the U.S. Personal Banking teams.

Harris has received several honors during his tenure in the financial industry, which he joined in 1991 at Continental Bank, according to his LinkedIn profile. He now serves on the board of Metropolitan Family Services as well as that of BMO Harris Financial Advisors.

In addition, he is a board member at St. Ignatius College Prep and on the School Programs Committee for the board. Harris holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame.
