On the Democrat side of the political ledger, it appears the voter base is divided by age as much as anything else. Younger voters, especially those aged 18 to 29, are trending heavily toward Sen. Barack Obama, according to exit polls conducted after primary and caucus contests on Super Tuesday, Feb. 5. Nationwide, Obama held a 19-percentage-point lead among those voters.
Older voters, however, those 45 and older and especially those aged 60-plus, favor Sen. Hillary Clinton.
In the 60-and-older demographic, the former first lady held a 20-point lead; it narrowed to 5 percent for those aged 45 to 59, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of exit poll data.
Interestingly, Democratic voters in every age group, when asked to rank imporant issues, put them in this order: the economy, Iraq and health care.
