BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Inc. and Independence Blue Cross have expanded their wellness programs.

Tennessee Blue, Chattanooga, Tenn., has introduced the Lifestyle Coaches program, which gives health plan members access to Web screening questionnaires and personalized lifestyle coaching.

Tennessee Blue will bundle the program into basic benefits for insured groups with 150 or fewer employees, and it will charge a separate fee for the program for employers with 151 to 1,500 employees.

The program coaches are registered nurses or have a bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline, such as dietetics or exercise science, Tennessee Blue says.

Independence Blue, Philadelphia, is adding a free, Web-based Lifestyle Management programs feature to its Connections Health Management program.

The new programs can help health plan members with losing weight, exercising more, cutting out cigarettes and taking other steps to improve their health, Independence Blue says.

The Independence Blue program relies on the Web to screen plan members and determine what advice they need, the company says.
