A Caribbean life reinsurer is reaching out to Asia.
Scottish Re Group Ltd., Hamilton, Bermuda, says it has received permission from regulators in Singapore to open a full branch office in Singapore.
Scottish Re opened a representative office in Singapore in October 2005.
The new branch office will support Scottish Re reinsurance customers in Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea and other Asia-Pacific markets.
Andrew Linfoot will be the principal officer of the branch.
Linfoot, who previously was president of the operations of Revios Rueckversicherung A.G. in Singapore, is president of the Singapore Actuarial Society.
Linfoot has degrees in economics and business administration from Macquarie University.
