Anthem May Raise Maine Individual HMO Rates 26%

NU Online News Service, Oct. 10, 4:55 p.m. – Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, a unit of Anthem Inc., Indianapolis, has asked Maine insurance regulators for permission to increase 2003 rates an average of 26% for individual members of its Maine health maintenance organization programs.

The company is asking for permission to raise rates 7% for individual members of the indemnity insurance program it operates in Maine.

Maine insurance regulators have scheduled a hearing on the rate increase requests for 9 a.m. Oct. 22 in Room 209 of the Burton M. Cross State Office Building, Augusta, Maine.
