NU Online News Service, July 29, 3:54 p.m. – Independence Blue Cross, Philadelphia, says it is expanding access to its Web-based benefits administration system, at http://www.ibxpress.com
Independence Blue, which has been testing the site on 70 southeastern Pennsylvania employers over the past nine months, is now opening the program to all group plans.
Eight hundred groups have registered, Independence Blue reports.
The benefits administration site gives employers the ability to add and remove members, view employee benefit information and request identification cards.
By early 2003, administrators will be able to use the site to receive and process bills electronically, Independence Blue says.
This fall, a pilot program will let some employers use the site to conduct open enrollment online.
