NU Online News Service, March 15, 12:39 p.m. – Clark/Bardes Inc. says it has engaged Deloitte & Touche L.L.P., Wilton, Conn., as its independent public accounting firm.

The benefits and compensation consulting company switched from Ernst & Young L.L.P., New York, when it moved its headquarters to North Barrington, Ill., from Dallas.

E&Y did an “outstanding” job, but when Clark/Bardes moved its headquarters, it decided to move its accounting and finance division as well, a Clark/Bardes spokesman says.

“We found Deloitte & Touche knew our business better,” the official said. “It was a tough decision, but it was the right decision.”

The appointment concludes a selection process that was started in mid-2001.

Clark/Bardes was founded in 1967 and went public with an initial public offering in 1998. Since then, the company has announced a long series of acquisitions.

The company listed its stock with the New York Stock Exchange March 7. Previously, the stock had been listed with the Nasdaq Stock Market.
