Kroll Expanding Disability Surveillance Program

NU Online News Service, Nov. 19, 12:03 p.m. – Kroll Inc., Nashville, Tenn., a large security company, has hired Joe Kelley to turn its disability “claims integrity” pilot program into a national program.

Kelley is the retired chief executive officer of American General Life and Accident Insurance Company, Houston.

The claims integrity program, which was recently tested at American General, uses surveillance and other methods to identify recipients of disability-based insurance benefits who are not really disabled.

Kroll says it found evidence that 31 of the 149 disability claimants reviewed for the American General pilot program may have submitted fraudulent claims.

Kelley joined American General in 1994 as chief marketing officer. He was named chief executive officer in 1999. Previously, Kelley worked for Prudential Insurance Company of America, Newark, N.J.

Kelley is a member of the board of The American College, Bryn Mawr, Pa.
