Arena Funding Plan Rejected

SAVANNAH, GA-Chatham County Commission Chairman Al Scott has shot down a plan by the city of Savannah to have its new arena be a countywide priority project that would be on the next sales tax referendum in November.

SAVANNAH, GA-Chatham County Commission Chairman Al Scott has shot down a plan by the city of Savannah to have its new arena be a countywide priority project that would be on the next sales tax referendum in November.

The city had requested the commission designate the arena project as a level two priority project that would be eligible to receive funding before other projects on the city’s list. The city was requesting $120 million from Chatham County for the arena project, according to the Savannah Morning News. The city had also requested $25 million for a new police headquarters be designed as a priority project as well.
