JERSEY CITY-Early Learning Academy has signed a lease to open its first location at Gull’s Cove, the luxury high-rise condominium situated here. Scheduled to open in September 2009, the new school will serve both residents of Gull’s Cove, as well as the community at large, according to Metro Homes LLC, which is developing the 323-home condominium overlooking Liberty Harbor and the Manhattan skyline.

“We chose Gull’s Cove as our premier location primarily because of its central location that’s accessible by light rail and a main roadway that is both convenient for parents as well as for field trips to the Liberty Science Center and other area attractions,” explains Khush Singh, executive director of the Early Learning Academy.

The preschool and nursery will occupy approximately 4,000 square feet of ground floor retail space at Gull’s Cove with a 1,000-square-foot mezzanine dedicated for offices and a conference room. There are plans to launch two additional Jersey City locations over the next two years followed by further expansion throughout the Tri-state area. The facility will be located adjacent to a Sawa Steakhouse and Sushi Bar, which also finalized a lease at the building. Gull’s Cove is Sawa’s third location in the state, joining Long Branch and Eatontown.

Located in the Liberty Harbor North Redevelopment District of Jersey City, Gull’s Cove is part of a comprehensive, 80-acre master redevelopment plan intended to build out the waterfront in Jersey City. The plan includes 6,500 units of market-rate housing, one million square feet of hotel space, 750,000 feet of retail and 4.5 million feet of office.

Gull’s Cove residential offering consists of a 16-story building with approximately 60 homes remaining available for sale. The homes range from around 500-square-foot studios to 2,000-square-foot, three-bedroom designs. Prices start from $299,000.
