Lone Star College Buys 103-Acre HP Campus

HOUSTON-Lone Star College System acquired the 103-acre Hewlett Packard campus on the area’s far northwest side. Local media sources report that the community college system will use the property and its 1.2 million square feet of office space to create a university center, a corporate college training facility and additional support space.

The campus, once home to Compaq World Headquarters, was placed on the market in early 2008. GlobeSt.com reported in late March that the campus was under contract following months of negotiations. Though a sales price was not released, replacement costs have been estimated well north of $500 million.
