Pharma Co. Relocates to NJ From San Diego

BEDMINSTER, NJ-Chugai Pharma USA will relocate its North American headquarters from San Diego to an 18,373-sf space the company has leased at SJP Properties’ Crossroads Business Center here. The relocation will take place over the next several months in a move that will be completed by April.

“It is the next step in the execution of our strategy to strengthen our global development activities and presence,” says David J. Mazzo, president and CEO of Chugai, which is a subsidiary of a Japanese research-based pharmaceutical company. “This location will allow for more efficient interactions among Chugai’s global development facilities and facilitate access to the pharmaceutical development workforce and business network in New Jersey.”

Crossroads Business Center is a 135,000-sf class A office facility at the intersection of Interstates 78 and 287. CPUSA was represented in the transaction by John O’Hearn of the Sitar Co./Oncor International. Terms of the lease were not disclosed. Parent Chugai Pharmaceutical Co. is involved in biotech products and the therapeutic fields of oncology, renal diseases, cardiovascular diseases, bone-joint diseases and transplantation, infection and immunity.
