STAMFORD, CT-The Providence-based Edwards & Angell LLP law firm signed an eight-year lease for 35,283 sf at Three Stamford Plaza here. The firm will use the space in the 242,000-sf building for a regional office. The Plaza, located at 301 Tresser Blvd., is part of the four-building Stamford office complex owned by Equity Office Properties LLC. Trammell Crow Company represented the firm in the transaction.

Ted Lane, senior vice president of brokerage with Trammell Crow’s New York office and Chuck O’Connor, a principal with Trammell Crow’s Boston office, represented Edwards & Angell in the transaction. Margaret Carlson, managing director of Equity Office Properties, represented the building owner in the deal.

Lane says that the company signed a short-term lease in early 2003 for about 13,000 sf in anticipation that the office would grow. He notes that the firm subsequently decided to lease more than 35,000 sf of space at the downtown Stamford building. The law firm has already taken occupancy of some of its leased space at the 15-story, Three Stamford Plaza property and is awaiting the build-out of some of its office space.

Lane notes that the law firm, prior to its lease at Stamford Plaza, had concentrated its office search primarily in the Stamford Central Business District.

Edwards & Angell is a full-service law firm with approximately 300 attorneys. The firm, founded in 1894, has eight full service offices on the East Coast (Providence, Boston, Hartford, CT, Stamford, CT, New York City, Short Hills, NY and West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, FL.) Edwards & Angell also has three satellite offices and maintains 21 practice groups in areas such as: health care, real estate, insurance, intellectual property, international business and private equity emerging companies.
