BAE Systems Debuts $52M Facility

RESTON, VA-Defense and aerospace contractor BAE Systems has officially opened its new 130,000-sf headquarters for its Integrated Systems sector. The $51.6 million project will bring an estimated 1,000 new jobs to the Fairfax County location over the next three years. Located at 11487 Sunset Hills Rd., the state-of-the-art facility constitutes an expansion of BAE’s operations in Virginia. The company houses 2,500 workers among its other area locations.

“BAE Systems has been an important part of the aerospace and defense community here in Fairfax County and I am delighted the company has expanded here,” Fairfax Economic Development Authority president and CEO Gerald L. Gordon says. The company announced its decision to expand in the Fairfax area back in January. “BAE Systems has been a tremendous corporate citizen and has been an important factor in our quality of life.”

It has been 20 years since the company first established its presence in Fairfax County, which received a $50,000 Governor’s Opportunity Fund grant for infrastructural development to accommodate BAE Systems’ new facility.
