Wilson Bowden wins Prime Manchester Residential Site

LONDON-Wilson Bowden City Homes has announced has acquired Castlegate, one of the most sought after sites overlooking the exclusive Castlefield area in Manchester's city centre, from Peel Holdings. It plans to convert the building into 84 apartments.

LONDON-Peel Holdings has sold Castlegate, a 66,000-sf building overlooking the Castlefield area in the city centre, to Wilson Bowden City Homes. The new owner plans to convert the canal-side building into 84 apartments of upwards of 500 sf each.

The scheme already has detailed planning permission and work is expected to start on site in Summer 2002. Nick Richardson, Managing Director of Wilson Bowden City Homes said: “The acquisition of this outstanding site marks Wilson Bowden City Homes’ first foray in Manchester city centre and we are delighted to have Castlegate as our first flagship scheme in the centre.

DTZ Debenham Tie Leung acted for Wilson Bowden City Homes and Peel Holdings acted for themselves.
