Cable Firm To Build 100,000-SF Facility

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY-Philadelphia, PA-headquartered Comcast Communications Inc. has decided to build its new 100,000-sf Technology Support Center in the Innovation @ Prince William business park, the area’s county-owned, 529-acre commercial campus. Comcast chose to build its facility in the county after searching the country for an appropriate location.

“We were most impressed with the commitment from the county and the state to this project,” Comcast regional vice president Jaye Gamble says. “The commitment to reduce costs and provide rapid review and approval of the tenant improvement plans reflects the county’s favorable business environment.” Innovation, which is anchored by George Mason University’s 124-acre research campus, is zoned specifically for biotech tenants but has become a magnet for high-tech companies as well. Other park occupants include international research organization American Type Culture Collection and Eli Lilly and Co., which will soon move into space in the park. County officials acquired the park property in 1997 for $8.5 million.
