HOUSTON-About 3.3 million sf in Houston Center’s buildings 1, 2, 4 and 5 stayed high and dry during the floods that accompanied Tropical Storm Allison, Crescent Real Estate Equities Co. senior vice president of asset management and leasing, Jane Page tells GlobeSt.com.

Page attributes the buildings’ location in the CBD’s eastern portion for the reason they didn’t flood. The CBD’s west side, says Page, had to contend with runoff from the bayou as well as the heavy rains.

Crescent reports 2 Houston Center did lose power for a brief period in Friday night’s storm, all was back to normal Monday morning. That complex had been open for business despite the estimated 30 inches of rain that fell on the Houston metro area over the weekend. A Crescent source also points out the underground CBD tunnel system that flooded in other areas of town does not run underneath the Houston Center Complex. The tunnel ends at the front of Houston Center, says the source, and the rest of the complex is connected by skybridges.
