LOS ANGELES-More than 1,000 leading commercial real estate professionals will attend ‘Real Estate 2001,’ a daylong conference followed by a deal-making session to be held Jan. 19 at the Century Plaza Hotel in West Los Angeles.

The keynote address will be delivered by Timothy H. Callahan, president and CEO of Equity Office Properties Trust, the Chicago-based REIT that is the nation’s biggest office building owner.

Other featured speakers include: K. Dane Brooksher, chairman and CEO of Denver-based distribution-facility giant ProLogis; Rick Campo, chairman and CEO of Houston-based apartment REIT Camden Property Trust; and Glen L. Carpenter, chairman and CEO of Newport Beach-based REIT Pacific Gulf Properties Inc.

Two other top real estate executives will round out the list of featured speakers. The first is Victor Coleman, president of LA-based Arden Realty Inc., one of California’s biggest office landlords. The other is David J. Contis, EVP and COO of Santa Monica-based shopping center powerhouse Macerich Co.

The annual outlook conference, organized by Beverly Hills-based Real Estate Conference Group, has gained a reputation as one of the best and most well-attended forecast conferences in the nation. Its sponsors include Real Estate Media Inc.’s national Real Estate Forum; its LA-based sister magazine, Real Estate Southern California; and GlobeSt.com, the nation’s largest Internet commercial real estate news service.

Registration for the conference is $250 before Jan. 5, or $285 after that date. The fee includes a continental breakfast, lunch, refreshments, program materials and a networking reception at the end the day.

Continuing-education credit is available for brokers, attorneys, CPAs, appraisers and architects. A special room for those wishing to spend one or more nights at the Century Plaza Hotel is also available.
