Oakmont Debuts $15M Logistics Center

IRVINE, CA-Oakmont Industrial Group has unveiled its new 139,674-sf Atlas Logistics Centre, a $15 million project on a 7.7-acre former brownfield site. The site of the new warehouse and distribution facility is in Gardena, CA, at the southwest corner of Avalon Boulevard and Rosecrans Avenue in the South Bay industrial market. The site is bordered by the 110 Freeway to the west, the 91 Freeway to the south and the 105 Freeway to the north.

Atlanta-based Oakmont’s Los Angeles regional partner, Tim Howard, notes that the company worked closely with the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board and the Los Angeles County Supervisors to redevelop a site that formerly was occupied by dilapidated buildings. The Los Angeles-based project team included CCA Architects, Norm Wilson & Sons General Contractors and Thienes Engineering. The listing agents for the project are the Cushman and Wakefield team of John McMillan and Jeff Sanita.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Yvonne B. Burke, whose second supervisorial district is home to the new Oakmont facility, says that the brownfield redevelopment project “is exactly what we want to see more of in this area.” The redevelopment of infill properties is one of Oakmont’s core businesses.

Other current Oakmont brownfield projects include the redevelopment/reuse of the former J.H. Baxter wood treatment facility at the Port of Long Beach. For this project, Oakmont is working in conjunction with the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) to redevelop the property into a port-related freight terminal for a yet-to-be-named freight forwarder.

Oakmont, founded in 1996, is active on both coasts. The company, which develops LEED-certified warehouse/distribution facilities, has a development pipeline totaling approximately 8.5 million sf.
