TAMPA, FL-Illinois-based home flooring and installation company Empire Today LLC has signed a 76,500-sf industrial lease for space within Sabal Park.

The company, which is locating from a smaller, existing facility, will use the space to serve its growing network of carpet installers throughout the Tampa area. Empire Today was represented in the transaction by Robin Stolberg, formerly of Equis and now with the Staubach Co.

ProLogis first vice president and market officer for South Florida and Tampa Scott Alexander tells GlobeSt.com that Empire Today will occupy 100% of the building and will take occupancy of the space in December. The company will occupy space formerly occupied by Corporate Express.

“They chose this location due to its proximity to their customer base and because of its close proximity to Interstate 4, Interstate 75 and Highway 301,” Alexander says.

Sabal Park is a 1,000-acre business park owned by Denver-based ProLogis located eight miles northeast of Downtown along Interstate 75. Empire Today currently leases 324,000 sf from ProLogis in facilities across the country.

“We look forward to occupying our new, strategically located distribution facility, which will accommodate our growing business and enable us to enhance the service we provide to our customers,” says Empire Today director of real estate and facilities Mike Grubisich, in a prepared statement.

This is the second lease ProLogis has signed at Sabal Park in recent weeks. Bunzl Distribution preleased 117,000 sf in a facility that is currently under construction, scheduled for completion in mid-2008. When completed, ProLogis will own and operate 10 facilities in the park totaling more than one million sf. Other tenants in ProLogis operated space include Verizon, Houston Wire & Cable Co. and Cintas Corp.
