176-Room Residence Inn Get Thumbs Up

ARLINGTON, VA-A new hotel will rise up at Courthouse Plaza, now that the Arlington County Board has signed off on the site plans for a new Marriott Residence Inn to be built at 1425 N. Adams St. Donohoe Development Co. is behind the project and has tentative plans to break ground on the 176-room extended-stay facility during the final quarter of 2006.

The architectural firm of Leo A. Daly is responsible for the design of the 10-story structure, which will encompass a total of 141,100 sf. A development cost has not been released. The new hotel will feature a 5,500-sf restaurant, as well as 4,000 sf of ground-level retail.

“This project marks a key step toward completing the vision for the Courthouse area,” County Board chairman Chris Zimmerman says. “The hotel will bring even more vitality to Courthouse Plaza and Clarendon Boulevard, while also blending well with the surrounding residences on Adams and 14th Streets.” The hotel is expected to open its doors in 2008.
