SAN FRANCISCO-McCarthy Building Cos. Inc. will relocate and expand its local office leasehold this fall. The St. Louis-based general contractor has taken down approximately 14,000 sf at 343 Sansome St., a 17-story Downtown high rise. McCarthy signed a seven-year lease with building owner Interland LLC and will move this November from 400 Montgomery. The company’s broker in the deal was Barry Bram of Tri-Commercial. Bill Cumbelich of CAC Commercial represented Interland. McCarthy’s Northern Pacific Division president Rich Henry says the company’s move is reflective of its growth in the Bay Area construction market in key industry sectors, including healthcare, education, laboratory, parking, and mixed-use projects. The company is currently involved in several projects, including Kaiser Permanente Replacement Hospital in Oakland; Santa Clara Valley Medical Specialty Center; College of San Mateo Science Building; UC San Francisco Medical Center; San Francisco Community College Mission Campus; and UC Berkeley’s Stanley Biosciences and Bioengineering Facility.The parties involved did not comment on the negotiated lease rate and it was not otherwise immediately available. A 9,000-sf space on the 10th floor is being advertised at $32 per sf per year.
