Catholic High School Launching $9M Expansion

WARREN, MI-A prominent east-side Roman Catholic High School will soon be growing. De La Salle Collegiate High School is launching a $9.1-million expansion and renovation plan as soon as the current school year ends.

“We looked at other locations, but decided our current location is fine, we just need a little more room for our students,” Brother Robert Carnaghi, president of De La Salle High, tells GlobeSt.com.

The first phase of a three-phase “Preserving the Legacy” $16.2-million campaign, the current project includes:

* Expansion of the school building from 102,000 sf to 123,000 sf, with a new north side classroom wing.

* Improvement of the 19-acre campus, including additional parking and an expanded east side entrance.

* Nine additional rooms for use as classrooms, new science labs and a new art room.

* Renovations that include establishment of a new school chapel.

* Technology upgrades.

* Remodeling of the library, music room and weight room.

The school’s enrollment is 684 students. Officials expect enrollment to jump to 710 this fall.
