Architect on Board for 36-Story Blue

MIAMI-World-renowned Arquitectonica has been selected as the architect for Blue, a 36-story, 330-unit condominium tower to be developed uptown. The 400-foot tower, the first project of Hyperion Development Group, is scheduled to break ground next month and be completed by August 2005.

It is being developed by Jim Clark and Thomas Jermoluk, formerly of Netscape and Silicon Graphics, respectively, and Paul Murphy, a well-known local builder and developer.

In its design, Arquitectonica emphasis glass elements. Blue will have light streaming into the lobby through tinted layers of blue glass, and glass-walled galleries leading to semi-private elevator foyers. The highest-quality hurricane-proof glass will be used for safety and reduction of sound transmission, according to a spokeswoman.

The residences will feature unobstructed panoramic views of Biscayne Bay, the Design District, Miami Beach and the ocean. Blue will have curved walls and an angled roof. “Within this sculptural form, the apartments share the panoramic views due to the continuous glass skin,” according to architect Bernardo Fort-Brescia, one of the founders of Arquitectonica. The other founder was architect Laurinda Spear.

Pre-construction prices range from $300,000 to $600,000. The project’s sales center is located at 601 N.E. 36th St.
