Developer Moves Forward On $125M Condo Project

FORT LAUDERDALE-The Altman Cos. of Boca Raton and the locally-based Abdo Cos. have obtained building permits to jointly develop The Symphony, a $125 million, 338-residence, riverfront condominium project here. Ground-breaking for the two-building development is scheduled for January, and the project is expected to be completed in 2005.

Each building will be 22 stories. The downtown project will be located at 600 W. Las Olas Blvd. near the Performing Arts Center facing New River.

Preconstruction prices start at $170,000. Sizes range from one-bedroom/one-bath units with 800 sf to three-bedroom/three-bath residences with 2,400 sf. The Altman Cos. chairman Joel Altman, a prominent South Florida developer, is providing development and construction management services for The Symphony, which will have Mediterranean-style architecture.

Premier Sales Group Inc. is the exclusive sales and marketing agent for the project. The Altman Cos. was founded in 1968, and The Abdo Cos. started in 1969.
