AUSTIN-Wanting to give itself room to grow, Littlefield Corp. has contracted to buy an office building north of Austin’s CBD.

Littlefield will move from its current downtown offices to the Lumbermen’s Association of Texas Building at 2501 N. Lamar. The 9,000-sf building is west of the University of Texas campus. The organizations are effectively switching space with Lumbermen’s moving into Littlefield’s 2,800 sf at 816 Congress. Littlefield has subleased the space from Jeffrey Minch, its president and CEO. Littlefield says it may create a marketing center for its Littlefield Hospitality unit in the building.

The Lumbermen’s building gives Littlefield, which runs bingo centers and other operations, three times more space than its current quarters while reducing the cost per sf, Littlefield says. “When all of the space is productively used, we will be incurring a cost of real estate that will be less than half of the rental alternative,” Minch says in a statement. “In addition, this site provides unusual public exposure and location recognition.” Lumbermen’s is an organization of owners and operators of lumber and building material companies in Texas, Mexico and throughout the United States.
