Merger Gives Baltimore Architects Access to Latin America

MIAMI-The Howard Snoweiss Design Group, which specializes in corporate, hotel and cruise-ship interiors, has merged with RTKL Associates, which operates a global design practice from Baltimore headquarters. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The deal is said to give the Florida company a new route to expansion, while providing the Baltimore firm a sought-after operating base into Latin America.

Howard Snoweiss, who becomes vice president of RTKL’s Miami area office, founded his firm 20 years ago. Clients include the Ritz Carlton in Naples, FL and the Marriott Harbor Beach Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, FL, as well as the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. The firm has 50 employees and expects to double in size over the next two years.

RTKL has some 900 employees and annual revenues of more than $100 million. It had reportedly been seeking a Miami presence for some time. Merger talks with Snoweiss had been under way for the past two years.
