Anthony LoPinto

Yesterday we celebrated Veterans Day, a time when we honor those who have served our country and reflect on the importance of our armed forces, especially in times like today when the geopolitical scene is in turmoil on every continent.

What I don’t understand is why the day is not celebrated universally by businesses. Banks and the federal government are closed, schools, the bond market, most city agencies, are all closed, but only a few businesses observe the day. I am okay with the spotty observation of Columbus Day, but in my view, Veterans Day is a very special and important day that should be observed by all. In my view, its shameful that businesses do not see it that way. That’s my view.
