Claims News Service, May 3, 10:10 a.m. EDT — AXA Art Insurance is offering a $100,000 reward for credible information for the recovery and return of seven Milton Avery paintings that have been reported missing while en route from Boca Raton to New York. Avery is referred to as the "American Matisse" by many critics and painted thousands of works before his death in 1965.

According to AXA, the driver and truck left Boca Raton for a routine delivery to New York. The shipping company's dispatcher last made contact with the driver on April 19th, 2006. Both driver and truck were reported missing on April 20th.

As part of its standard operating procedure, AXA Art registered the missing objects with the appropriate authorities and is working with the FBI, which is closely monitoring the investigation. Additionally, the Art Loss Register has been notified of the missing paintings.
