Jenkins Wins Service Rep. Award

NU Online News Service, July 24, 10:54 a.m.EST? A 16-year veteran of the insurance industry is thisyear's winner of the 2001 National Accredited Customer ServiceRepresentative of the Year award, the Independent Insurance Agents& Brokers of America announced.

Customer service representative Barbara S. Jenkins of theinsurance agency, DeJarnette & Beale Inc., of Bowling Green,Va., was picked for the honor for her "contributions to her agency,her community, the insurance industry and the strength of her essayon customer service," the Alexandria, Va.-based agent associationsaid.

Ms. Jenkins received a cash prize of $1,500, registration forone CPCU or IIA course administered by The American Institute forChartered Property-Casualty Underwriters, and Insurance Instituteof America, both based in Malvern, Pa., and a plaque commemoratingher achievement.

Diane Mattis, education director for the Independent InsuranceAgents of Virginia said Ms. Jenkins is the first customer servicerepresentative in the state to earn all three ACSR designations,personal, commercial, and life and health. She was also among thefirst to obtain the ACSR designation in the state, Ms. Mattissaid.

Candidates for the award must hold the ACSR designation fromIIABA and uphold the professional standards for which ACSRdesignees are recognized, the association said.

The ACSR accreditation is an international designation programdeveloped by IIABA and administered in conjunction with TheAmerican Institute for CPCU, for the promotion and recognition ofcustomer service expertise throughout the independent agencysystem.
