Basic insurance needs for sportscamps are General Liability and Accident/Medical Insurance alongwith Participant Legal Liability coverage, which is unique tosports camps and covers bodily injuries not included in a GLpolicy, says Lori Windolf Crispo, managing director for the sportsprograms division at Bollinger Insurance in Short Hills, N.J.

Accident Cover protects participants or coaches if they areinjured while holding the camp; it's really a buffer against GLclaims. The minimum limit on an Accident policy may be $25,000 perclaim, per injury; however, organizations will often carry $100,000or $250,000 limits with varying deductibles. Some will carry anumbrella policy for higher limit of liability. “For a catastrophicinjury you want $2 million of coverage,” says Crispo.

Everything else is gravy, she adds: Cyber Liability, D&O,Auto insurance, Property insurance, Inland Marine or Equipmentcoverage, depending on a league or camp's exposure. “Warehousesconverted into indoor-sports facilities are [more common] now,” shesays. “That gives them more exposure and they need Propertyinsurance, Premises Liability and [coverage] like that.”
