Insurity, a national provider of business-processing servicesand technology to the property-casualty insurance industry, hasnamed Jerry Markland to the position of chief technologyarchitect.

Mr. Markland has 25 years of experience as an executive,enterprise architect and system engineer working in the design anddevelopment of software tools for the insurance industry, saidHartford-based Insurity.

He previously served as chief technology officer with BenefitsTechnology Group (BTG), where he was responsible for strategy andproduct development of human resources and benefits-relatedtechnology for brokers and general agencies, said Insurity.

The company said Mr. Markland designed and built an informationinfrastructure to support BTG's product development and consultingorganization.

Mr. Markland also was a co-founder and CTO of StarNex, a companythat linked brokers and insurance companies online, Insurity said.He previously held positions with AMS and StarSolutions, designingand developing various insurance processing software applications.His projects included rating systems and Web-based systems forlife, health and property-casualty businesses.
