The second named Atlantic storm of the season, Tropical Storm Beryl, formed off the coast of North Carolina yesterday with winds topping 45 miles per hour as of 11 a.m. this morning, according to the National Weather Service.

NWS said Beryl was not expected to reach hurricane status in passing the Northeast, before moving off into the North Atlantic and into Canada.

The Pacific has already seen four named storms, with Hurricane Daniel expected to become a major hurricane within the next 24 hours but drop down to tropical storm status by Monday. Daniel is not anticipated to make landfall.
