Calif. DMV Mulls $13 M Allstate Penalty

California officials said last week that they are going to court against Allstate Corp. seeking civil penalties that could total more than $13 million following a police investigation revealing widespread leaks of confidential state driver records by Allstate.

The upcoming action by the California Department of Motor Vehicles followed that agencys announcement a week earlier that it had cut off the companys access to the DMV's electronic records system.
