Earlier this year, the European Commission ordered a report on the regulation of lawyers across Europe. The study, carried out by the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna, found that lawyers in the Finnish market were the most lightly regulated in the European Union.
In Finland the provision of legal advice and legal representation of clients before courts is not restricted – in short, anyone is allowed to offer legal services. There are no regulations or rules of conduct generally applicable to all practitioners of the legal profession.
