The introduction of the euro has shown up the huge gaps in salary levels paid to in-house lawyers in different jurisdictions, with some lawyers earning more than twice as much as their counterparts in other European countries, according to recent statistics released by recruitment consultants Laurence Simons.

The figures confirm that UK lawyers are among the highest paid in Europe, following closely behind their counterparts in Switzerland.
The statistics have been drawn from monthly reviews of approximately 50,000 candidates across Europe since January this year when the euro was introduced.
