The Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer, has put his weight behind growing calls for the liberalisation of overseas legal markets, specifically India and China, as the push for UK lawyers to make in-roads into vital new markets gathers pace.

Speaking at the KPMG annual law lecture last week (26 January) Lord Falconer stressed the “bilateral benefits” that would be reaped by countries such as India and China if they opened their legal markets to foreign firms.
