Rep. Gary Miller (R-Calif.), vice chairman of the HouseFinancial Services Committee, scolded credit unions for not doingenough of their own lobbying, and leaving it only to their tradeassociations. He also reviewed the positive and negatives ofgovernment- sponsored entities in the secondary mortgagemarket.

On June 28, Miller introduced H.R. 2572, The Regulatory Relief for Credit Unions Act, whichwould establish a risk-based capital system for credit unions,authorize the NCUA to delay or modify CFPB regulations and provideadditional regulatory relief measures.

(D-Va.) was very well received aftertelling his NAFCU Congressional Caucus audience that banks have noleverage with him. In fact, he said he would double down andsupport credit union legislative priorities over banks'. And, hesaid the idea creditunions are a threat to banks “doesn't even pass the giggletest.”
