Local institutions in the community for decades – a drug storeand theater that features family friendly movies – were the latestto be cash mobbed by ORNL Federal Credit Union.

The $1.5 billion credit union in Oak Ridge, Tenn., said on Sept.5, it debuted its first “double feature” through its Small BusinessCounts Cash Mob program at Hoskins Drug Store and the Ritz MovieTheater in Clinton, Tenn.

The first 30 people at each event received a free $20 gift cardcourtesy of the credit union, according to ORNL. Approximately 70people attended the Hoskins cash mob and 40 people came out for theRitz Theater cash mob.

Since 1930, Hoskins has been an institution in the Clintoncommunity and a testament to small business, with three generationsof the Hoskins family being involved, ORNL said.

The store features a full-service pharmacy, home medicalsupplies and equipment, hot plate lunches, an authentic sodafountain, home décor and a gift department with signature linessuch as Match Pewter, Vera Bradley, Mark Roberts Fairies andChurchill Weavers, the credit union said.

Located directly beside Hoskins is the Ritz Theatre, which hasbeen serving the Clinton community with featured movies and liveperformances dating back to 1945, according to ORNL.

Owners Dean and Jane Brock have been involved since 1995 andwere essential in having the theatre refurbished, remodeled andreopened to the public in 2000, according to the credit union.The Ritz said it has one show time each night and features only thelatest family friendly releases for $5 per ticket.

Beginning in July, ORNL began promoting and supporting two East Tennesseebusinesses each month in the 16 counties served by the credit unionthrough its SmallBusiness Counts Cash Mob program.
