U.S. Reps. Steve Stivers (R-Ohio) and Steve Chabot (R-Ohio) paidvisits to credit unions this month to reiterate their support forincreasing the member business lending cap.

Chabot visited the $299 million Sharefax Credit Union in Mason, Ohio, which is located in thenewly drawn 1st Congressional District, according to the OhioCredit Union League. Chabot is a cosponsor of the Small Business Lending Enhancement Act (S. 2231/H.R. 1418).

Sharefax President/CEO Art Kremer, along with 15 Ohio creditunion leaders, met with Chabot to discuss regulatory burden, smallbusinesses, the federal budget, the upcoming elections, gridlock inCongress, and the potential for moving much-needed credit unionlegislation before the end of the year, the league said.

Chabot said that any legislation would likely be taken up in alame duck session after the election.

The $346 million Homeland Credit Union in Chillicothe, Ohiowelcomed Stivers, who talked about his support for credit unions' MBLlegislation and expressed appreciation for what credit unions dofor their members, the league said.

Stivers said he has received pushback from credit unionopponents over MBL legislation, but added his support is aboutdoing the right thing for businesses, according to the league.
