Austin has more than 15 years of experience incommercial lending and business development, most recently servingas the assistant vice president, business banking officer atCitizens Bank. Pawtucket Credit Union, Pawtucket, R.I.,announced that Joe Silva has joined the creditunion as vice president of commercial lending. Silva will beresponsible for the management and growth of the credit union’scommercial loan portfolio, including real estate and businesslending. In addition to overseeing the day to day activities of thedepartment, he is also charged with adherence to regulatoryrequirements and procedural development. Denali Alaskan Federal Credit Union, Anchorage,Alaska, announced that Bill Murray was selectedchairman of board of directors by his fellow board members. Murrayhas served on the board for the past 18 years, serving a variety ofleadership positions, including vice chair and treasurer. He wasco-chair of the steering committee when Denali and Alaskan FederalCredit unions merged in 1997. He has also served as chair of thesupervisory committee and has held positions on the credit union’scredit, facilities, nominating and investment committees. He isformer chairman of the Alaska Credit Union League and member of theNational Association of Credit Union Chairmen. Murray is currentlymanager of purchasing and logistics for United Utilities, Inc.,where he is responsible for directing purchasing and logisticsupport functions for the company, which provides telecommunicationservices to rural Alaska. including the delivery of broadbandinfrastructure and services. He has a bachelor of arts degree infinance and business from the University of Washington.

Gesa Credit Union, Richland, Wash., announcedthe addition of two financial services professionals. CommercialLoan Officer Jeremy Wiersma and BusinessDevelopment Representative Gary Grant have joinedthe credit union. Wiersma brings nine years of commercial lendingexperience and a background in agricultural research to Gesa’sbusiness lending team. At Gesa, he handles commercial real estateloans, lines of credit, agricultural and equipment loans, SBA 7(a)and 504 loans, and farm loan programs. Grant has a 17-yearbackground sales and marketing, advertising, educationalrecruitment and television production. At Gesa, he works with localbusinesses and organizations, introducing them to Gesa membershipand Gesa’s products and services.

San Diego County Credit Union, San Diego,announced that Ashlee Micale, with more than 15years of financial management experience, has been named executivevice president, chief financial officer. Micale will provide astrategic role in the overall financial management of SDCCU. Micalehas direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting,strategic planning and treasury functions. Micale previously was,since 2005, chief financial officer at the Denver-based PublicService Credit Union. She has a bachelor’s degree in businessadministration, majoring in accounting, and an MBA from theUniversity of Colorado.

Texell Credit Union, Temple, Texas, hasannounced the hiring of Tom Lowery as vicepresident finance and administration. In his new role, Lowery isresponsible for Texell’s accounting, collections, human resourcesand information technology efforts. He will also serve on Texell’ssenior management team, evaluating new business opportunities anddeveloping strategic plans for the credit union. Lowery’sprofessional background includes serving as senior vicepresident/treasurer for United Central Bank and senior managementroles at American National Bank of Texas, Redwood Credit Union andFirst American Bank. United Methodist Federal Credit Union,Montclair, Calif., welcomed its newest employee, Assistant VicePresident & Business Development Manager TeodoroRamirez. He brings over 16 years of financial experienceto the credit union. In this position, Ramirez will be in charge ofincreasing financial literacy and educating the community on thebenefits found with United Methodist FCU membership. Ramirez is agraduate of UCLA with a bachelor of arts in sociology and a masterof arts in urban planning. He is a certified financial literacyinstructor and also has an MBA from USC Marshall School ofBusiness.
