On Wednesday, more than 75 volunteers from Charlotte, N.C.credit unions, the National Journal and other groupsassociated with the Democratic National Convention will decorateand assemble a permanent art installation as part of the ongoingRooftop Playground Renewal Project at Charlotte's Levine Children'sHospital.
|Volunteers will also work with patients at Levine Children's todecorate garden-themed arts and crafts projects.
|The project is one of CUNA's “leavebehind” projects it has organized in conjunction with the twomajor political parties' national conventions.
|CUNA is also spearheading an effort to retrofit a playground atAll Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., with specialequipment to help rehabilitate patients. The Republican NationalConvention will be held in nearby Tampa, Fla.
|The projects' $300,000 estimated cost will be covered by creditunion donations nationwide, in an effort led by the CarolinasCredit Union Foundation and the League of Southeastern CreditUnions, and supported by CUNA Mutual Group.
|The DNC is scheduled for Sept. 3-6. The RNC is scheduled forAug. 27-30.
