The Obama administration yesterday sent the nomination papers for Deborah Matz to chair the NCUA Board to the Senate.

The Senate Banking Committee will review the papers and conduct additional inquiries before holding confirmations on her. She must be approved by a majority vote of both the committee and by the full Senate. President Obama announced his intention to nominate Matz on May 21.

If confirmed, Matz, who served on the board from 2002-2005, would replace NCUA Chairman Michael E. Fryzel, who has held the post since last summer. Fryzel will become a regular board member and Vice Chairman Rodney Hood, whose term expired in April, will leave the board.
