ATLANTA -- With the recent marking of the 60th anniversary ofbaseball legend Jackie Robinson's debut in the major league, manymay not know that a credit union veteran once played on the sportsicon's team.

Frank Kellert, who died Nov. 19, 1976, once served as a CUESchairman and manager of Wilson CU in Oklahoma City. Kellert played122 major league games from 1952 to 1956 for the St. LouisCardinals, Orioles, Dodgers and Cubs. He also appeared in threegames in the 1955 World Series with the Brooklyn Dodgers--the sameteam as Robinson. Robinson played his first major league game withthe Dodgers on April 15, 1947.

As part of the 60th anniversary of Robinson's debut, newspapersacross the country have been running a photo of him sliding intohome base with Kellert at bat looking on during the 1955 WorldSeries' first game. Yankees catcher Yogi Berra is also in thephoto. The Dodgers would go on to win that World Series and severalmore and Robinson, the first African-American to play in the majorleague, would go down in history as one of the greatest baseballplayers of all time.
