WASHINGTON - CUNA and NAFCU are continuing with their joint adcampaign on Capitol Hill telling the bankers to "Knock It Off." Intheir latest round of advertising to hit Washington, D.C., CUNA andNAFCU open up their newspaper ad that ran in Roll Call,Congressional Quarterly, and CQ Daily with "America's Banks: TheMost Profitable Industry in the Country" in bold print. It pointsout that banks have made more money than any other industry since2000. The advertisement continues, "The banking industry is makingbillions of dollars in profits, yet these banks are still attackingAmerica's non-profit credit unions. Why? Because America's creditunions provide quality financial services without the bloated feesthe banks charge." In line with a continuing theme, it urgeslawmakers to tell banks to "Just Knock It Off!" CUNA Senior VicePresident of Political Affairs Richard Gose said that credit unionsrepresentatives visiting their lawmakers over the Fourth of Julyrecess would also pound home this message.
