KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Educational Community Credit Union has recently honored former Board Member Marlene Howe with the 2006 James E. Fetterolf Distinguished Service Award in recognition of 10 years of credit union service and her dedication to the educational community. Announced during the credit union's annual meeting, Howe was singled out for "fully exemplifying the credit union philosophy of `people helping people' and the ideal stated on the award plaque, `The Ultimate Worth of a Person is in Service to Others.'" After the award presentation time was allotted to review the past year's noteworthy accomplishments including celebrating ECCU's 70th anniversary, the installation of a new mainframe/Alpha computer system and the opening of the credit union's first Grand Rapids part-time office to serve the greater educational community in Kent County. Incumbents re-elected to the board of directors for three-year terms were Robert Goodwin and Barbara Winter. In addition, the following officers were elected to the board: David Aubry, chairman; Richard M. Cahow, vice chairman; Arthur Parker, treasurer; and Rick Geer, secretary.
